In addition to the federal extension, Businesses operating in Connecticut (Corporation, Partnerships, S-Corporations, and fiduciaries) are required to file a separate Business Tax Extension form to get an extension of time to file their Connecticut business income tax return.
Extension Form to use
- For C-corporation - Form CT-1120 EXT
- For Pass-through Entities - Form CT-1065/CT-1120SI EXT
- For Fiduciary - Form CT-1041 EXT
Due Date to file the Connecticut Extension Form
- Corporations - Taxyears ending with June 30 - 15th day of the 4th month after the tax year ends (October 15). For all other tax period endings- 15th day of the month following the due date of the company’s corresponding federal income tax return for the income year. (May 15 for calendar year taxpayers)
- Pass-through Entities - Returns are due the 15th day of the fourth month following the close of the tax year. Calendar year returns are due on April 15.
- Fiduciary & Estate - Returns are due the 15th day of the fourth month following the close of the tax year. Calendar year Estate returns are due on April 15.
