What is an Electronic Postmark?

An electronic postmark is provided by the transmitter to the taxpayers, which bears the actual date and time (as per the taxpayer's timezone) the extension is received by the transmitter through e-filing. 

The IRS accepts the extension request if the electronic postmark is on or before the deadline and treats it as a timely filed extension.

If the electronic postmark is dated after the Extension filing deadline, the IRS will consider the actual date of receipt as the filing date for that return.

How Electronic Postmark Works in ExpressExtension?

When you file a tax extension through ExpressExtension, the electronic postmark will be generated automatically based on your time zone. 

So, your return will be considered "On Time" if it is filed by midnight, your local time, on the deadline date.
