Why was my return rejected for a business name/EIN mismatch?

The IRS rejected your return because your business name/EIN does not match the IRS records. You should verify that the EIN in your account is correct and that your business name is listed exactly as it appears in IRS records.

If you need help confirming your information, you can contact the IRS at 1-800-829-4933.

Note: If you have a new EIN, it takes approximately 10 business days or 2 weeks for the number to become active within the IRS e-filing system. If you obtained your EIN less than two weeks ago, this is likely the reason for the rejection.
