When e-filing Form 4868 in ExpressExtension, you will come across the following payment options. If you owe any taxes to the IRS, you may choose any of these options to make your payment to the IRS.
1. Electronic Funds Withdrawal (EFW): To pay tax dues through EFW, you have to provide your checking or savings account information for the IRS to withdraw money from your account. The application defaults the Payment Request Date i.e., the withdrawal date to the actual date when the IRS receives your extension. For instance, if you file your extension on March 13, then the payment request date is on the same date.
2. Check/Money Order: Once you transmit your extension, make sure that your check is payable to the "United States Treasury." The mailing address depends on the place where you live. You can find out the mailing address for your location on this page.
3. Debit/Credit Card: To make payment through a Debit/Credit card, click here.
