ExpressExtension allows you to choose the payment option for paying the tax amount while e-filing your extension. You can choose between Electronic Funds Withdrawal (EFW), Electronic Federal Tax Payment System, a debit/credit card, or a check or money order.
If opted for EFW, you need to provide your checking or savings account information. For EFTPS, it's your responsibility to visit their portal, www.EFTPS.gov, to pay your tax dues. For check or money orders, you need to make sure that they are payable to the "United States Treasury." To make a payment through a Debit/Credit card, visit https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-your-taxes-by-debit-or-credit-card.
When you file Form 7004 & 8868, you'll come across the payment options EFW & EFTPS, and for Form 4868, you'll have the payment options EFW, Debit/Credit card, and Check or Money Order.
