When is the due date to file form 1041?

For estates and trusts that follow the calendar tax year, the due date to file Form 1041 and Schedule(s) K-1 is April 15, 2025.

For estates and trusts that follow the fiscal year, Form 1041 is due by the 15th day of the 4th month following the close of the tax year. For example, an estate that has a tax year ending on June 30, 2025, must file Form 1041 by October 15, 2025.

If the due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, file on the next business day.

If you need more time beyond the regular due date of your income tax return, file Form 7004 by April 15, 2025, with the IRS. An estate (other than a bankruptcy estate) and a trust filing Form 7004 are eligible for an automatic 5½-month extension of time to file Form 1041.
