For the 2022 calendar year estate and trust taxpayers, the due date to file Form 1041 and Schedule(s), K-1 is by April 18, 2023.
For fiscal year estates and trusts, file Form 1041 by the 15th day of the 4th month following the close of the tax year. For example, an estate that has a tax year that ends on June 30, 2021, must file Form 1041 by October 15, 2021.
If the due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, file on the next business day.
In case you need more time beyond the regular due date of your income tax return, file Form 7004 by April 18, 2023, to the IRS. An estate (other than a bankruptcy estate) and a trust filing Form 7004 are eligible for an automatic 5½-month extension of time to file form 1041.
