[E-file Error Code R0000-922-01] How do I resolve it?
IRS Error Code: R0000-922-01
Rejection Message:
Filer's EIN and Name Control in the Return Header must match data in the e-File database, unless the "Name Change" or "Name or Address Change" checkbox is checked, if applicable.
What does it mean?
The business name, EIN, and the name control on the extension filed didn't match with the IRS's name control. The name control is a four-character identifier derived from the business's name, which is assigned by the IRS when the business applies for an Employer Identification Number (EIN). The mismatch can occur if the EIN is entered incorrectly or if the business name is mistyped.
Resolution:
Check if the EIN and business name entered are correct. If not, correct them and retransmit the return to the IRS.
Here’s how you correct the EIN and Business Name in your return:
Step 1: Sign in to your account.
Step 2: On the dashboard, under "Exempt Org Extensions - Form 8868," locate the rejected return.
Step 3: Click the "Rejected by the IRS" button next to the rejected return to find the list of errors associated with the return.
Step 4: Click the "Fix Me" button next to error code R0000-922-01.
Step 5: You will be directed to the "Exempt Organization Details" page. Here, verify the organization’s name and EIN. If either is incorrect, enter the correct details.
Step 6: Review the details, and click the "Transmit" button to re-transmit the corrected return to the IRS at no additional cost.
If the previously submitted information is correct, you can contact the IRS at (800) 829-4933 to verify your EIN, Business Name, and Name Control.
