Businesses operating in Florida (C-corporation, S-corporations, Partnerships) are required to file a separate tax extension form with the state department apart from the federal tax extension Form 7004 by the original filing deadline of your Florida tax return.

Extension Form to use

  • Form F-7004, Florida Tentative Income / Franchise Tax Return, and Application for Extension of Time to File Return.

Due date to file Florida Tax Extension

  • C-Corporations - For tax years ending June 30, the due date is on or before the first day of the fourth month following the close of the tax year (October 1). For all other tax year endings, the due date is on or before the first day of the fifth month following the close of the tax year. For calendar year filers, that would be May 1.
  • S-Corporation - 1st day of the 4th month after the end of the tax year (April 1 for calendar year filers).
  • Partnerships  - 1st day of the 4th month after the end of the tax year (April 1 for calendar year filers).

Florida tax extension Filing Method (Paper/Electronic)

Florida state supports both paper and electronic filing.

How to pay the state tax due?

The Form F-7004 extension doesn’t apply to your tax payment. You must pay your balance due to the state on or before the original deadline to avoid late payment penalties.

You can make your tax payment using the online services on the Florida Department of Revenue website.

Does ExpressExtension support this State filing?

Yes, you can complete your Florida Business tax extension Form F-7004 with ExpressExtension in minutes. Our application validates your form by performing an internal audit to check for errors. Once complete, all you need to do is print your form and mail it to the address we’ve provided. Please Note: An extension to file doesn’t mean more time to pay, if you owe any tax due, make your tax payment by the original due date of your state return to avoid late payment penalties.

Any Special Requirements?

Regardless of your business entity type, an extension does not give you more time to pay your Florida tax. To avoid interest and penalties, make sure to pay your state tax balance by the original due date. You can file Form F-7004 and/or make a state tax payment by paper mail or electronically using the Florida e-Services “File and Pay” system.

Note: The State of Florida does NOT recognize the Federal tax extension, which means that FL Form F-7004 must be filed to obtain a Florida tax extension, whether or not you have a Federal extension.
