Kentucky doesn’t require Businesses (corporation or limited liability pass-through entity ) to file a separate Business Tax extension form if they having an approved federal extension by filing Form 7004. The extended deadline for your Kentucky return will be the same as the extended deadline of your Federal tax return. Remember, you must attach a copy of the federal Form 7004 when you’re filing your Kentucky income tax and LLET return by the extended due date.

If your ( corporation or limited liability, pass-through entity) federal extension was rejected or you are seeking to extend the filing of the Kentucky tax return, you must file the extension form by the original due date of your Kentucky tax return to get an extension of time to file the Kentucky business income tax return.

Any Special Requirements?

A tax extension does not give you more time to pay Kentucky tax. You must pay your balance due by the original deadline (April 15) to avoid penalties.
