If you believe the prior year PIN or AGI entered was correct, you should contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to speak with a Customer Service Representative. Before reaching out to the IRS, make sure you have the following information on hand:
- Submission ID: This is a twenty-digit identifier for your electronically filed tax return, which can be found in the rejection email you received.
- Electronic Postmark: This is the actual date and time (according to your time zone) when the extension was electronically transmitted to the IRS.
