I have filed the extension with incorrect information. Can I cancel and retransmit it again?

Once you’ve transmitted the return to the IRS, you cannot change any information in the form unless the IRS rejects it. If your extension request is rejected by the IRS, you can correct the errors and retransmit the extension form at no additional cost.

Note: You cannot file corrections separately for a form that has already been transmitted. You will need to wait until the IRS updates the form’s status.

To update the correct information in the rejected form, click the ‘Fix Errors’ option under the action column corresponding to your filed return, available in the dashboard.
