[E-File Error Code F7004-009-03] How do I resolve it?

IRS Error Code [F7004-009-03]:

The "Requested Payment Date" must be on or before the due date of the return to which the extension applies, but no more than 5 days prior to the received date.

What does it mean? You need to choose a payment request date that’s on or before the due date of the return and no more than 5 days before the IRS receives your extension.

Resolution:

Step 1: Sign in to your account.

Step 2: Under Business Extensions - Form 7004, locate the rejected return.

Step 3: Click the "Rejected by the IRS" button for the return.


Step 4: Find the list of errors and click the "Fix Me" button for error code F7004-009-03.

Step 5: Choose a different payment request date that meets the criteria.

Step 6: Review the details and click the “Transmit” button to re-submit your return to the IRS at no additional cost.

You’ll be notified of the status once the IRS responds.
