ExpressExtension Support

Find answers to your questions.
The IRS rejected my extension, and the deadline has passed. How long do I have to resend my return?

If the IRS rejects your extension and the official filing deadline has passed, you are granted a 5-calendar-day grace period, known as the perfection period. You can correct the errors and re-transmit your extension to the IRS during this time. The perfection period typically begins when the extension is initially transmitted.

Note: These 5 days cannot be extended, regardless of weekends, legal holidays, or the end-of-the-year cutoff.
